My first job out of college was teaching band and choir in grades 7-10. After being there two years, I accepted a position teaching band and private lessons in a high school where I enjoyed five years of teaching and performing. While at the high school, I also taught algebra and general math and became interested in computer programing.

Taking a short break from teaching, I completed a business course in computer programming. From 1983-2010, I developed software applications for small businesses as an independent consultant, and while doing so I always maintained an active teaching studio.
